Two of the world’s top 20 ranked touchtennis players came to Maresfield last weekend as a new touchtennis court was officially opened.
Adam Hassan and Ed Ellis played an exhibition match and then everybody attending was given the opportunity to try out this new version of tennis.
The key to touchtennis is deft-stroke play and thoughtful manoeuvres rather than pure power. It is played with shorter rackets and a foam ball on a compact court, and is suitable for young and old, whatever their level of athletic prowess.
The court has been installed at Maresfield Lawn Tennis Club who say they are grateful for generous financial support from Uckfield Youth Trust, Gatwick Airport Community Trust, and Uckfield Town Council.
