Figurative works among new arrivals at gallery
Figurative works by Mark Spain and Sherree Valentine Daines are among new arrivals at the Diane Hutt Gallery in Uckfield.
Also just in are some city scenes on a grand scale by Tom Butler, including of London and New York.
Kilnwood Studio offers half-term creative fun
Half-term is the perfect time for children to concentrate on a creative gift for Father’s Day and Kilnwood Studio provides the opportunity to do just that.
Lisa Todhunter and Teresa Smith, who run the studio, are happy to help with hand and foot prints and unique designs can be added to your own choice of pottery.
New range of pottery for weddings
A new range of wedding ware is now offered at Kilnwood Studio. It includes personalised plates which can be signed by wedding guests – instead of a guest book – thank you hanging hearts for bridesmaids and for place names, and matching vases too.
You can choose your own designs and colours to go with wedding stationery and themes of the day.

Peaches and cherries arrive at Hartfields
Peaches and cherries are the first of the soft fruits to arrive for sale at Hartfields and warmer weather has brought home-made iced tea back on to the menu.
To eat the choices include Hartfields-own fish and chips with the fish fried in crunchy panko bread crumbs.
There’s also locally-grown asparagus with potato rosti, poached egg and hollandaise sauce.
Rabbits and hearts at Carvills
Thornback and Peel’s ‘Rabbit and Cabbage’ design, inspired by the tales of Peter Rabbit and Flopsy Bunnies running amok in Mr McGregor’s garden, has returned to Carvills.
The theme can be found on ovengloves, white cotton hand-printed teatowels, aprons, trays, coaster set, placemats, and cream cotton tote bags.
Hearts are ever-popular with Carvills customers and new deliveries have arrived at the shop.
And there’s a new range of throws and blankets, including a fun range for children, featuring animals and colours. A selection of the throws/cushions are made of organically grown cotton and certified to show no use of pesticides.
Look out too for a new range of scented candles called Occasions from Stone Glow. They include Pop Open the Bubbly – pomegranate, cranberry and pear; Thanks a Bunch – peony, rose petals and musk; and Hip Hip Horray – ginger lily, bergamot and musk.
New ties in the ‘Limited Edition’ range at Coles
New ties have arrived in the Limited Edition range of Van Buck ties at Coles of Uckfield. They’ll bring plenty of colour to your wardrobe. See some in the picture below.
New scooters at PipeDreams
New stunt scooters are now in stock at PipeDreams. There are lots of flip flops too, swimwear, snorkel sets, body boards and more clothing.
Footwear clearance sale at Final Score
Final Score has its biggest-ever footwear clearance sale under way to make way for new stock. Most is reduced by 50% or more.
The sale includes professional level Puma King football boots from £45, Karakal squash shoes £25, K Swiss junior tennis shoes £20 and Nike trail running shoes from £40.
Josefina sets date for furniture painting workshop
Josefina is planning to hold furniture painting workshops at its new Piltdown showroom and the first is set to be held on Saturday, June 24, from 10am to 1pm. There are more details at UckfieldEvents.com, one of the Uckfield News Network websites.
Shop owner Louise Beard is hoping to organise workshops every six weeks – another date will be fixed in July – but she is also offering ad hoc sessions for groups of four or more people. These can be held during the day or in the evening, and participants can bring along a bottle of wine to share while they work.

Louise said Josefina is now designing its own range of furniture. The first piece available is a TV unit with drawers and a drop-down grill hiding equipment. Remote controls can still be used while the grill is closed.
The unit can be built in any size and any colour to suit you.
Bedroom furniture is currently being designed inspired by French style. There will be bedside tables, chests of drawers and dressing tables.
If you would like piece of furniture created to your own design Josefina is able to help with that too.
Home accessories and soft furnishings continue to arrive at the shop and a garden range will be on display soon. It will include bird baths and plant pots and some garden furniture.
Free gift with Giorgio Armani purchases at Kamsons
A free gift with Giorgio Armani purchases is being offered, while stocks last at Kamsons Pharmacy in Uckfield High Street.
The holdall is available with the purchase of any Giorgio Armani men’s fragrance of 50ml or above.
Look out at Kamsons too for two new collections in the Crabtree and Evelyn range. One, La Source, draws inspiration from the restorative powers of the sea, the other Goatmilk is formulated with gentle ingredients to help people with sensitive skin.
Battery-powered mowers now available at PP Estates
Battery-powered lawnmowers, hedge cutters, chain saws and strimmers are now for sale at PP Estates on the Bellbrook Estate, Uckfield.
The mowers, in particular, are proving popular because they are light and easy to operate, ideal for those who struggle to start petrol mowers.
There are two ranges, one 24v, a lightweight domestic machine and the other 80v which is designed for the bigger garden, either domestic or entry-level commercial, and for working around office buildings and schools where noise is an issue.
Twenty per cent is being offered off Stiga battery-operated mowers at PP Estates at the moment.
There’s also a deal on Hayter mowers until the end of June on Hayter mowers with between £25 and £100 off the purchse price of a new mower if you part exchange your old one.
And, if you buy a new Westwood ride-on mower for the full recommended retail price at the moment you will be given a free grass collector worth from £525.
Father’s Day gifts at Chestnut Tree charity shop
Gifts that are ideal for Father’s Day are now on display at the Chestnut Tree children’s hospice charity shop in Uckfield High Street. Do call in to look around.
Manager Angie Page said you would find quality summer clothing there too.
From garden furniture to serving platters at SG Home Interiors
It will be all change at SG Home Interiors soon as new sofas arrive and lead to a change of layout downstairs.
Other things to look out for there include white serving platters in different shapes and sizes including a long slim dish designed especially for a row of olives.
Then there is a display of terracotta, in a choice of two colours and with a frost resistant finish, there are pots for the wall, urns, planters and bird baths.
There’s plenty of garden furniture in stock too.
New stock at Chapter Three
New stock continues to arrive at Chapter Three with lots of choice now for summer wear.
Postcard, from Brighton, is always popular and a new delivery was expected ready for this month.
Check out the suede bags. They are popular and a fresh delivery has just arrived. They are in a variety of colours and sizes.
Natural fabrics, linens and cottons, are proving popular for summer.
New layout for wool shop at Sew n Sew
The layout of the wool shop within Sew n Sew in Bell Walk, Uckfield, has changed and now you can stand anywhere within it to see all the colours and textures at one glance and head for those that particularly attract you.
There’s a handy table where you can look through the patterns as you make your choices.
You’ll find a new range of ribbons in Sew n Sew too adding to an already extensive display of them.
And, for fun, you’ll find a wide range of spinners if you want to share in the latest craze.
