More businesses are coming out of the Coronavirus lockdown and here we take a look at what you will find in Uckfield area shops during July.
The Flower Shop reopens today
The Flower Shop reopens today (Wednesday, July 1) from 10am to 2pm. Make sure to look in the window as you are passing because a new display will be there to welcome you. We’ll revisitto take a photograph. For now here is their reopening notice framed by hanging baskets.

Something for Everyone reopens again on Saturday
Something for Everyone reopens on Saturday and, to start with, will have new temporary opening hours.
This will enable them to take deliveries and re-stock the shelves while the shop is shut.
The shop will be closed on Sundays and Mondays and open from 10am to 4pm each day from Tuesday to Saturday.
New opening hours at Paws n Claws
Paws n Claws pet shop in Olives Yard has new opening hours – 9.30am – 4.30pm, Monday to Saturday.
The business is still offering free local delivery for purchases over £20.
Owner Justine Aldridge says they have all the correct measures in place to protect against the spread of the Coronavirus.
Only two people are allowed in at any one time, there’s a protective screen on the counter, hand gel is available, and the card machine is sprayed with anti-bacterial and anti-viral spray after every use.
Justine said: “We are nice and safe so please come and see us, please shop local and don’t use the internet, we are all relying on you to keep us going through this difficult time.”
Fabric garden furniture at SG Home Interiors
It’s now possible to buy garden furniture in outdoor fabric, which means it can stay outside 365 days a year while standing up to the elements.
SG Home Interiors says the fabric is stain resistant, uv resistant, breathable and porous. Even after a heavy downpour it is said to be ready to use within an hour because fresh air can circulate freely through the fabric. The furniture comes with a five-year guarantee.
Sofa and dining sets are available and there’s even a table available with a fire pit in the centre. See in one of the pictures below.

Gaynor looks forward to reopening Kilnwood Studio
Kilnwood Studio is due to reopen on Saturday and owner Gaynor Robson is looking forward to showing off her shop which has been redecorated outside and in.
Gaynor is also encouraging customers to get creative at home as well as in the studio through new Decorate-at-Home packages.

Coffee and cake at Hartfields
Coffee and cake only will be served at Hartfields for the first two days after it reopens on Monday, then from Wednesday a limited food menu will be introduced.

Organic fruit and veg at Best Health Food Shop
New at Best Health Food Shop at the bottom of Uckfield High Street near the station is fresh organic fruit and vegetables.
Deliveries arrive twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and they include a seasonable element.
The display yesterday ranged from lettuce, carrots, and radishes, to aubergines, cherries and water melons. There are also sweet potatoes, butternut squash, and ginger.
Also new is loose frozen fruit and vegetables. If you take along your own containers you can pick and mix as much, or as little as suits you. Reusable freezer bags are for sale there too if you don’t bring your own.
Carvills says thank you
Carvills says thank you to all its customers for being so loyal to the business and helping to make the reopening of the shop successful.
Throughout July new stock will be arriving and here is a taste of what is available there at the moment.
Industrial-looking mirrors and shelving units are for sale including the round iron mirror pictured below. This is described as being perfect for above a dressing table or hallway with a handy shelf for a lipstick or place for keys.
Look out too for the bar cart, a drinks trolley, “perfect for your G&Ts”.
Also at Carvills you will find Beach Clean placemats, coasters and keyrings. They are made from sustainable cork, and recycled EVA plastic saved from the ocean.
And there’s a new vegan collection of long-lasting sustainable candles and diffusers.
The diffusers are made in Britain. The brown glass bottles are inspired by the medicine-style bottles often dug up in the garden and they come in plastic-free packaging. Aromas include Rhubarb and Ginger, Tomato and Berry, and Herb.
Clearance sale at Josefina
Everything in a clearance sale at Josefina is half price and new items are being added every day as the owner Louise Beard prepares for a refit of the premises.
Closure for the refit is being timed to coincide with scaffolding going up outside as work is done on premises above the shop.
Masks and hand sanitiser at Kamsons Health and Beauty
Masks and hand sanitiser can be found at Kamsons Health and Beauty and there are bargains to be had on shelves where items are £1 each.
Also worth noting is that the shop sells a wide range of essential oils.
And during July Kamsons will be running a Clarins gift offer.
This will give you the opportunity to choose four different beauty treats, plus a beauty bag, when you buy two items of Clarins, one to be skincare. If you buy an additional skincare item, you receive an extra gift worth £29.
New temporary opening hours at W E Clark & Son
High Street jewellers W E Clark & Son have new, temporary, opening hours.
The shop is open Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30am to 4pm.
Make sure to browse the shop’s windows because new stock is being added there.
A selection of rings, perfect for engagement, crafted in rose, white, and yellow gold, and in platinum, is available, with different diamond carat weights to suit every budget.
There are also coloured gemstone rings, sapphire, ruby and amethyst.
W E Clark & Son is allowing a maximum of two customers – can be a couple – in the shop at any one time and appointments are available upon request.
Hand sanitiser is available upon entry and at every station and there’s an ultra sonic cleaner to sanitise jewellery and watches.
The W E Clark & Son website displays the majority of stock items and a contact-free service is available. You can request a tracked Freeport bag for repairs and scrap gold.
Currently the shop is unable to cut off rings, or pierce ears, but its Facebook page will be updated once this is allowed.
Summer stock in at Cole’s Menswear
Cole’s Menswear is fully stocked with summer wear for men, including shorts, polo shirts, half sleeve shirts – and hats.

UPVC windows with the look of timber at Superior Glass
New Refine Flush Casement Windows, which are made of UPVC but give the look and quality of timber without any of the maintenance required, are now available at Superior Glass.
The windows are the first fully mechanically jointed flush casement window on the market to be based on traditional timber window styles.
They are available in a range of contemporary colours and you will be able to see one demonstrated if you call in at the Superior Glass showroom. Colour and hardware samples are also available.
From face masks to sun hats at Sew n Sew
Sew n Sew is adding to its collection of face masks and now has masks for children, in addition to fabric ones for adults.
There are also three-layer disposable masks available, 50 of them for £20, and face shields which Andy Coppins, who runs the shop with his wife Dawn, says are more comfortable than masks.
Hand sanitiser is in stock too.
Sun hats are available along with a huge choice of wool, fabric and haberdashery.
Hayter deals at PP Estates
Hayter, the British lawn mower manufacturer is celebrating its 50th anniversary with special deals, which are available on machines at PP Estates.
The mowers include the new Hayter with a 60v battery and Philip Eves from PP Estates says that enables you to cover a big area, comparing favourably with a petrol mower.
