Three young dancers from the Rennie Dance Academy have successfully auditioned to perform with the English Youth Ballet in Swan Lake.
Belle Banwell, 14, from Maresfield, Amelia Cook-Fuller, 11, from Ridgewood, and Amberley Schofield, 11, from Piltdown are among 100 dancers chosen from 300 to take on roles with the English Youth Ballet (EYB).
They will dance alongside international principal dancers at The Hawth Theatre, Crawley, on November 25 and 26.
Director and founder of EYB Miss Janet Lewis MBE said the company is all about providing extra performance experience for young dancers. “We saw a very pleasing standard at the audition and it was lovely to see lots of enthusiasm.”
The dancers will be coached by Oliver Speers, who previously danced with Ballet Capitole de Toulouse and who will also star in the role of Prince Sergei at the Hawth and by Amy Drew, who has previously danced with the Tasmanian Ballet Company and Ballet Ireland, and who will be dancingthe leading roles of Odette and Odile, the White and Black Swans.
Oliver said the young dancers were treated like professional during rehearsals. “We work them hard but the results are fantastic. They learn what the life of a professional dancer is like. They are living their dream and they just love it.”
