Weight lifters are invited to look round a new gym in Uckfield today (Friday, April 25) in advance of its opening tomorrow.
All the equipment at The Iron House at Unit 1, 52-60 Bell Lane, has been purpose-built for the gym with each machine targeting specific muscles in the body, whether legs, shoulders or back.
Owners are Colin and Carol Care who live between Uckfield and Lewes. Colin is a keen weight lifter himself and has his own gym at home but knows of others who travel miles to access such specialist equipment.
Carol said: “Most of the equipment is heavy weights for people that want to do weight training. There are some cardio machines as well – for warm up and cool down – but we are concentrating more on serious weight lifters who want to do free weights.”
The couple are well known in Uckfield having managed Absolute storage for 11 years. Before that they ran their own contract cleaning business for 17 years.
They aim to make access to The Iron House affordable and if people want to go along just once a week then they can do that for £4 a session. Registration is free of charge.
Other packages are for £35 a month or £375 for a year. There will be special offers available for the first 100 people to sign up.
If you would like to have a look round this afternoon just look for Travis Perkins in Bell Lane. The Iron House is through gates opposite and in the unit at the end. The doors will be open from midday until about 8pm.
The gym opens for business at 6am on Saturday, April 26. Visitors will be welcome.
