A team of seven cyclists are taking on the 150-mile Devon Coast to Coast challenge from May 6-9 to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The fundraising idea was led by Martin Broom of TR Fastenings in Uckfield and supported by his brother Ian, a seasoned fundraiser and cycling enthusiast. They want to raise money in memory of their father who lost his life to cancer.
TR Fastenings is sponsoring the challenge and the brothers hope to raise around £10,000.
The team will be led by Ian Broom, Managing Director of BDC International, accompanied by two friends and four senior executives from a London-based insurance brokers.
The event will also double up as a team building exercise with assistance from a four man support crew who will provide first aid, spare cycles, water and transportation of luggage.
TR fastenings is one of four sponsors and proud to be supporting the event.
Martin Broom said: “Following the loss of our father to cancer, my brother Ian decided to put a dedicated team together to cycle the steep and undulating roads of Devon, starting at Woolacombe and finishing in Dartmouth.
“Although it’s 150 miles, it will seem like 500 miles. We are so grateful for TR’s generous sponsorship. We are aiming to raise £5000 but we are hopeful in reaching up to £10,000 with the level of interest we have already received.”
