Superhero scarecrows needed for Uckfield Lions competition

Superhero scarecrows are needed for entry in an Uckfield Lions competition taking place this summer.

It is hoped that residents, schools, youth organisations and shops will take part in the event and display their creations across town.lions_logo_un

Rules say the scarecrows, built to a superhero theme, must be between five and six feet in height and clearly visible from the public highway. Entry is free but donations will be welcome.

Judges will be out and about between Wednesday, June 3, and Saturday, June 6, so scarecrows need to be in position each day from 9am to 7pm.

The top five household scarecrows will be invited to the Lions Big Fun Day on Sunday, June 7, where the general public will vote for the winner.

School and youth group scarecrows will also be judged by the public during the fun day but shop entries will be judged in situ.

The closing date for entries is May 28 to allow a list of competing scarecrows to be produced so visitors can find and view them.
