Street dancers qualify for European and World Championships

Three teams of street dancers from Universal Dance, Uckfield, have qualified for European and World Championships later this year.

They competed in a United Dance Organisation competition in Essex to win their places.

Sketch were placed first in the Under 10s category. The dancers are aged six to nine years.

Scribble, the Junior Crew were placed second in a large Under 14 category. The dancers are aged nine to 11 years but due to rules on ages could not dance in the Under 12s.

Graffiti, who moved up to the Novice level competed against experienced crews in the Under 18s category, smashed their set and came out on top.

Other successes included six-year-olds Neeva and Eloise who came third with a new duo routine out of more than 60 other couples.

The next competition for Universal Dance is on Sunday, March 22, where the team hope to qualify for British Dance Organisation World Championships in November. Even a new Parent Crew, Rough Copy, will be competing for the first time.
