Streatfeild House homes plan agreed

Streatfeild House is to be demolished and the site used for new homes.

The former retirement living complex will be redeveloped with homes for rental, shared ownership, with up to 20 per cent of the site is allocated as accommodation for households where someone has a disability.

The decision was made last week by Wealden District Council’s Cabinet.

A final viability assessment will be carried out before the redevelopment starts. More details of the proposal in this story

Closure of retirement homes

Streatfeild House has an entrance from Southview Drive with a frontage on to London Road.

When it closed in 2019, residents moved over to the newly built Grants Hill Court.

Initially, it was thought the property would be demolished and rebuilt to modern standards.
