Traffic surveys in Ridgewood should not take place in school half-term holidays, says Uckfield town councillor Karen Bedwell.
There are concerns the surveys do not properly reflect the amount of traffic at the roundabout next to the Highlands Inn.
Cars from two estates join the main route into Uckfield at that point.
It is also where the Eastbourne Road and Lewes Road join.
A survey was held last autumn and as further one during the February half-term.
The issue was raised by Cllr Bedwell at a meeting of Uckfield Town Council.
On school days, there were queues at the Highlands roundabout but in half-term it was completely clear.
She asked: “Can they just do a road traffic survey during normal working times?
“I would like Ridgewood residents to have a traffic survey done during normal times.”
Town clerk Holly Goring said the council was seeking to know what the February traffic survey was about and asked that in future such work was done in term time.
County councillor Claire Dowling, who is the county’s Lead Member for transport, was at the meeting and said there was a lot of hoo-hah about a traffic survey done last October.
“What it resulted in was more traffic travelled through Uckfield that day than on normal days.
“It was actually up by four per cent.
“The peak was later in the day.”
Cllr Dowling said the survey in October had to be done at that time and was related to works on the by-pass.
She did not know of the survey which was done last month.
