Steam power hauls the rail tour up the hill away from Uckfield towards Buxted

Steam train visits Uckfield

Two steam locomotives hauled a rail tour excursion train into Uckfield station this afternoon (Saturday).

The tour left London Victoria and this morning travelled along the Bluebell Railway to Sheffield Park.

The train was unusual in that it was “topped and tailed” by steam locos. Locomotive 34046 “Braunton” led the train into Uckfield with a former LMSR “Black” 5 bringing up the rear – with the roles reversed as the train headed back to Victoria.

Our photographs and video were taken at the Hempstead Lane crossing.
