Six new homes could be built on site of Manor Park bungalow

Six new homes could be built on the site of a bungalow at the end of Woodlands Close on the Manor Park Estate, Uckfield.

Clearwater Land and New Homes has submitted a planning application to Wealden Council saying: “By developing the site in the manner proposed we will create a more harmonious development which sits comfortably within its surrounding.”

The company has included a letter from Wealden Council's development management north assistant team leader Stacey Robins which says: “This site is located insite the development boundary for Uckfield where, in principle, more intensive redevelopment for residential purposes is accepted (and indeed encouraged) within our policies.

“The use of the site for a single unit of accommodation does not seem to be a good use of land and replacement with six units (subject to detail) is supported in policy.”

The plan is to demolish the bungalow at 26 Woodlands Close and build the six new houses in two terraces of three facing Downsview Crescent and with parking behind accessed from Woodlands Close.

Full details of the application, number WD/2010/0933/F, can be seen on the Wealden Council website. Follow this link and then see the Design and Access Statement.
