Uckfield Mayor Cllr Spike Mayhew led a minute’s silence at a meeting of the town council last night in memory of Cllr Keith Everett, who died last week.

Councillors wore black armbands as a mark of respect for their colleague. The mayor said Cllr Everett would be sorely missed. He was very much loved in the town.
