The entrance to Fernley Park from the Eastbourne Road, Uckfield

Shop conversion plan at Fernley Park, Uckfield, opposed

Plans to change a shop unit to a flat on a new Uckfield housing estate have not found favour with the town council.

The proposal, which is before Wealden District Council, is to convert the premises at 17 Baxendale Way, Fernley Park, off the Eastbourne Road, because the shop unit has attracted little interest. Earlier story here.

Uckfield Town Council plans committee is not supporting the conversion because it feels that as the site has only recently been completed insufficient time has elapsed to allow the premises to marketed as a shop.

In a comment to the district council, it said: “We feel that the estate would benefit from this potential amenity which, once marketed would be a great benefit to local residents.”
