Sheffield Park ranger gives talk at Uckfield Volunteer Centre lunch

Speaker at a quarterly community lunch organised by Uckfield Volunteer Centre last week was Nick Balding, a National Trust ranger from Sheffield Park.

Mr Balding presented slides of the local landmark garden, and talked about the involvement of many volunteers in all aspects of the management, maintenance, operation and running of the gardens.uckfield_volunteer_centre_logo

He said that without these volunteers the National Trust would not be able to operate. A number of them were recruited through the volunteer centre and he appealed for all volunteer and service organisations to continue their support.

The talk was followed by a question and answer session and by updates from organisations including Isfield Forget-Me-Not Club, Wealden Talking News, who are looking to expand the client base for their free service to the blind and partially sighted; East Sussex Community Transport and the Churches Family Welfare Organisation.

The meeting was held at the Luxford Centre and a buffet was prepared by members of the volunteer centre.
