Residents who have transformed a derelict piece of land in Newtown, Uckfield, to a tranquil haven have been given the all-clear to continue their work.
They have been given a five-year extension to the licence which permits them to use the land at Selby Road.
Concerns had been raised because Uckfield Town Council, which owns the land, has also kept its options open by trying to ensure it is available for housing; if access to the land and planning permission can be obtained.
Concerned residents from the Newton Action Group packed a council meeting earlier this year and made worries about Selby Meadow known.
Members of the council’s environment and leisure committee have now agreed a five-year extension to the licence from when the current agreement ends on February 28, 2015.
