See miniature steam engines and celebrate anniversaries

A Miniature Steam Traction Engine and Classic Car Rally takes place at the Lavender Line heritage railway at Isfield this weekend.

It will be open from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday and there will also be the chance to take a trip on the railway, and enjoy refreshments at Cinders Buffet.

There’s a children’s play area and Riley’s Miniature Railway will be operating on both days.

Book event at The Civic Centre

Other events happening at the weekend include a celebration at The Civic Centre, Uckfield, being organised by Chrissy Noble to mark her 30 years of selling Usborne books.

There will be cake, free children’s book-related activities, free face painting, and a free book for every child who can find five ducks hidden in a book display.

In addition there will be books for sale at special 30th birthday offer prices.

Beauty Spot celebration

Later tomorrow The Beauty Spot is throwing open its doors to celebrate ten years in business.

Owner Maria Mann is holding a party mark the anniversary and clients past and present are invited to call in tomorrow (Saturday) between 3-10pm.

Freehand Machine Embroidery Workshop

Also tomorrow there’s a Freehand Machine Embroidery Workshop with Lara Sparks at the Dot to Dot Studio in East Hoathly.

And a workshop at the Uckfield Yoga Studio looks at How to survive and thrive through the menopause.

Rebecca Weddell demonstrates her art

Glass bead maker Rebecca Weddell will be demonstrating her art at the hot flame on Saturday and Sunday.

ACRES workshops

And tomorrow the Adult College for Rural East Sussex has a series of workshops running in Uckfield.

One-day courses include Art Workshops, Macrame, Needle Felting, Paper craft, Practical Astronomy, Drumming the Cuban Rumba, Holiday Italian, Holiday French, Florals, First Aid, Cookery, Willow Sculpture.

On Sunday

On Sunday you can try Sewing with Mindfulness and Meditation at the Dot to Dot Studio, East Hoathly.

And also on Sunday there’s a Vintage Bus Running Day at The Bluebell Railway at Sheffield Park.

During the week

On Wednesday Candlelight Care is hosting a Macmillan coffee event from 2pm at their offices at 95-99 High Street, Uckfield, and all are welcome to call in.

Also on Wednesday Rebecca Weddell is running mini-taster classes in hot-glass bead-making at her East Hoathly workshop.

Next weekend

From Friday to Sunday Giants of Steam will be coming to a Bluebell Railway Gala, and there’s an Italian Night Themed Dinner Evening at The Grove Farmhouse Cafe in Blackboys on Saturday evening.
