School organises remote sports week

The medal ceremony at Holy Cross Primary School after Home Sports Week. Some awards were home delivered.

Children from Holy Cross Primary School in Uckfield took part in a Home Sports Week event.

Lockdown put an end to plans for the usual sports day but everybody was encouraged to take part in activities designed by Olympics Team GB and ParalympicsGB to be easily set up around the home or garden.

There were four fun tasks to complete and the children were able to share the activities remotely, sending photos and results to the school afterwards.

Holy Cross home sports week activities were designed by Olympics Team GB and ParalympicsGB.

The school said the medal ceremony was very different from normal with social distancing outdoors for winners now back in school – there was also a doorstep delivery.

Staff say they are hugely looking forward to seeing all the children back in school in September.

“It’s been a challenging few months, but we’re proud of the work that we’ve done to keep the children connected with the school, through daily learning and our fun staff videos; and Home Sports Week has helped us to reach out to our school community once again, and remind ourselves that keeping active is good for both mind and body.”
