School closure – Buxted

Update at 12.38pm, Tuesday, February 3: Buxted School is to remain closed for the rest of the day.

East Sussex County Council has said in an official notification that roads remain closed and repairs to a burst water main outside the premises are unlikely to be complete until mid-afternoon.

Our original story: Buxted Primary School is closed this morning (February 3).

The emergency closure is because of a burst water main outside the premises.

There is no safe access because of the freezing weather.

East Sussex County Council has said it will update the situation at 11am.

The county’s highways section has said the A272 is closed at Buxted due to ice.

Water is coming from a BT manhole.

“We are working with them to find a solution,” ESCC Highways said on Twitter.
