School closes after staff member tests positive for Covid-19

Cross in Hand Primary School has closed because a member of staff has tested positive for Covid-19.

East Sussex County Council website says staff who have been in contact “with that person” have to self-isolate.

The website says the school will reopen after half term, on Monday, November 2.

A spokesperson for the county council said they couldn’t give any information about cases in schools but they had got advice from the director of public health.

The statement said:

David Gale, East Sussex Director of Public Health said: “As with all elements of our community schools across East Sussex are doing a great job in slowing the spread of Covid-19 by following guidance and advice where there are confirmed cases.

‘It’s extremely important that everyone plays their part in the fight against this virus by remembering ‘hands, face, space’ and self-isolating and arranging a test if they experience any symptoms, no matter how mile.

“The latest information and advice is available on our website.”
