Scarecrow competition is returning to Uckfield

Uckfield Lions are encouraging townspeople, businesses, schools, and community groups to build scarecrows and display them during May.

They are running a competition and finalists will be judged at The Lions Big Fun Day on the Luxford Field, on Sunday, June 2.

The top five scarecrows from each of three groups will be invited for the final judging which will take place from noon to 4pm.

Prizes will be awarded to first, second, and third best entries for household scarecrows, and schools/youth group scarecrows, and there will be an engraved trophy for the winner of the shops and business category.

The Lions are asking that the scarecrows are in position each day, and viewable from the public highway, from 9am to 7pm from Wednesday, May 1.

But they must be displayed between Monday, May 13, and Saturday, June 1, inclusive so they can be judged.

Entry forms

Entry forms are available from the Lions Bookshop in Olives Yard, or from the Lions here.

Entry to the competition is free of charge but donations with entry forms will be gratefully received by the Lions.

All profits from the Big Fun Day and the scarecrow competition will go to local good causes.
