Rugby club founding fathers present £2,000 to Oscar’s Wish

Uckfield Rugby Club Founding Fathers have presented a cheque for £2,000 to Oscar’s Wish Foundation, a charity providing support for families following the loss of a baby.

Oscar’s Wish was the club chairman’s charity for last year and the cheque was presented by chairman John Lewis to Gemma Kybert who founded the foundation.

Gemma said the funds raised could help local families in a number of ways.

For example the £2,000 could:

  • Pay for four bereaved couples to access specialist bereavement counselling together for a course of six sessions, or
  • Provide 66 Love-a-Bear Memory bears to be sent to children who have lost a sibling, giving them something tactile to love and cuddle in memory of their baby brother or sister.

Uckfield Rugby Club Founding Fathers is the charitable arm of the club. Its objective is to give something back to the community by supporting local worthy causes.

John said: “I am very pleased that we have been able to support a local charity in such a meaningful way.

“We have supported several other local good causes recently and are always on the lookout for more.

“If anyone knows of any other likely organisations, or would like to apply to us, please contact me in confidence at john@lewisbusinessmedia.co.uk.”
