Traffic will not be able to head south beyond the Boots traffic lights while the roadworks are carried out in Uckfield High Street

Roadworks in Uckfield High Street set to start on time

Roadworks to complete the first stage of Uckfield High Street improvements will start on schedule next Monday, September 22.

Colas has been appointed as the contractor.

Network Rail is expected to start construction of the station car park in October.

The roadworks are scheduled to last until the end of November and will affect the High Street between the Framfield Road traffic lights and the traffic lights at Boots. A one-way system will operate (northbound). Southbound traffic will have to use the by-pass.

Warning signs hare being put up on approach roads to the town.

East Sussex County Council said Colas was aware of the need to keep townspeople informed and ensuring good communication with affected businesses. A special website is to be established.

The council will be prepared at a public “drop-in” session on October 3 about town centre redevelopment (see story here) to deal with questions and comments from people about the roadworks. Story here about town centre regeneration plans.
