Roadworks set to delay motorists in Uckfield

Roadworks are taking place on two of the main roads into Uckfield.

Today (July 27) South East Water is due to begin works in London Road from “outside the Russian House to outside 3 London Road”, according to East Sussex Highways.

Two-way temporary traffic lights will be in use. A high level of disruption is predicted.

On the south side of town, the access to Old Timbers Lane is being improved as part of redeveloping the old convent site for housing.

Old Timbers Lane is closed with vehicle and pedestrians accessing the Victoria Pleasure Ground via a road alongside St Philip’s RC Primary School. The road will be part of the new development.

An agreement struck by the town council will also see the upper part of Old Timbers Lane brought up to standard with the lower part improved as part of the redevelopment. See earlier story here

On the outskirts of the town at the Copwood roundabout on the A22 ironworks are due to take place on Wednesday (July 29) to Friday (July 31).

Two-way traffic lights will be in use. A high level of disruption is predicted.

High levels of disruption are also predicted by the highways department at Maresfield where traffic calming is going on until the beginning of September.
