Ridgewood Village Hall fair a great success

About £1,800 was taken at Ridgewood Village Hall fair on Saturday, and while expenses still have to be paid, organisers said the event was a great success.

One of the attractions was the chance to soak Uckfield Mayor and Deputy Mayor Cllr Spike Mayhew and Cllr Jackie Love by throwing water filled sponges at them while they were trapped in stocks.

There were also stalls, side-shows, games, bouncy castle, food and drink and performances from local groups.

Inflatable day

Next on the agenda is an inflatable day in August – tickets will be available mid-June – and then family-friendly fireworks in November.

The village hall committee is looking for volunteers to help with events, from setting up to helping on the day.

Capital grants are now being sought towards extending and refurbishing the hall and chair Karen Bedwell said things were starting to move forward.

Thanks

She said: “Huge thanks to everyone involved with the fund-raising especially David Cook, who donated the castle and gave up his day to man it for us on Saturday.”
