Students, parents and staff celebrated today (Thursday, August 20) Uckfield Community Technology College’s best ever GCSE results.
A total of 72% of students achieved the benchmark five A*-C including English and maths and overall 81% of students achieved five or more A*-C grades.
Principal, Hugh Hennebry, praised everyone involved in supporting this year group over the last five years.
He said it was a “fantastic year group with an incredible set of results, a record-breaking year, testament to the wonderful support of parents and carers and the astounding work of the UCTC staff team”.
He added: “We are so proud of what our students have achieved, their amazing success is utterly well deserved. We look forward to seeing so many of them joining our Sixth Form (which also achieved its best ever results in 2015) when school starts again in September.”
Deputy Principal, Andrew Wright said: “Exams are getting harder, the exam period longer, these additional demands are a real challenge and our Year 11 students rose to that challenge so well.
“There are many amazing stories of individual excellence and grand effort across the performance of this year group from across the range of abilities. From our most able students to those who found learning more difficult, this cohort have done so very well.”
The Class of 2010’s Director of Year, James Gietzen, added: “This year group has always been very special and now they have achieved UCTC’s best ever results. I am very proud of them all and wish them every success in the future.”
