Rail platform drop-in session fixed for end of month at Uckfield

Network Rail is to reveal later this month what will happen to Uckfield and Buxted trains while the Uckfield rail platform is lengthened.

A drop-in session will be held at the Civic Centre on July 29 between 4 and 8pm.

Network Rail will explain how the work is to be carried and what arrangements are being made for passengers while the line is closed between Uckfield and Crowborough.

A comprehensive rail replacement bus service is being organised.

Uckfield Town Council heard an outline of how services could be affected at its meeting on Friday during a debate on High Street roadworks but railway industry sources have indicated to UckfieldNews.com that the detail, when announced, could be different.

It was expected that Network Rail would clarify the situation with a statement yesterday (July14) but all the company would say was it was writing to residents.
