Pudsey Bear was a surprise visitor at Buxted and Maresfield Primary Schools yesterday.
Children were open mouthed as he walked into classrooms, accompanied by Leasa Buhlman, from BT, and crowded around him enthusiastically as he patted their heads and gave ‘high fives’.
Pudsey, who is the face of the BBC Children in Need appeal, first visited Bonners at Maresfield and then called in at Stepping Stones Pre-School before going on to Buxted.
BT has supported Pudsey for more than 30 years. It helps by providing the network infrastructure that handles phone calls from donors, selling hundreds of tasty treats, dressing up as Pudsey (or his female companion Blush) and by volunteering to take calls on the night.
Last year more than 1,000 BT employees volunteered to answer the phones in the BT call centres.
Children at Bonners will be wearing wacky ties and donating £1 each to support Pudsey on Friday which is Children in Need day.
