Public viewing of Hughes Way play area upgrade plans

Residents will be able to see ideas for a new play area at Hughes Way at the beginning of next month.

Uckfield Town Council, which owns the site, has indicated how the project will evolve in the next two months. It has set aside £50,000 in this year’s budget for the work.

Views were sought from those living near to the area and local families to understand people’s needs.

Contractors invited to tender

A tender document has been drawn up for potential contractors to bid for the work.

The next stages in the process will take place through this month and next.

Monday, June 12: Closing date for submissions at noon.

Saturday, July 1: Minimum of eight contractors will be invited to attend a public presentation from 10am – 1.00pm in the Ashdown Room at Uckfield Civic Centre.

Monday, July 3: The displays will also be available for public viewing in the council chamber throughout the day.

Friday, July 28: Successful contractors will be notified with a start date to be agreed between both parties.

The Hughes Way upgrade is part of a town council policy to improve play areas, the last two were at Ridgewood and Hempstead Road.
