CCTV footage is being forwarded to the police following theft from a property in Hempstead Road, Uckfield, in the early hours of this morning.

Stills taken from CCTV footage following a theft in Hempstead Road, Uckfield, in the early hours of this morning. The quality is better in moving CCTV, according to the property owner.

A person was captured on CCTV at 2am entering multiple times, each time exiting, it is thought, to walk stolen items down the road, possibly to a waiting vehicle, and then back again.

The property owner says the suspect is a man of slim build, five foot ten inches to six feet tall, who was wearing light tight jeans, black shoes, with dark hair and glasses. The person’s jacket was distinctive with a black patch on each shoulder and with a full width reflective strip.

Six heavy sleepers had been delivered to the property to build a platform in the rear garden. The repeated visits were suspected to be because the sleepers were heavy to carry. The delay of each visit made it appear they were being loaded to a nearby vehicle which was not in view of the CCTV.

The property owner said: “The value is about £120. I know it’s not huge but it’s the principle and the sheer front of the guy that annoys me.”
