Conflicting visions for the rail line south of Uckfield were on display on Friday when the Ashdown Forest explorer bus services were launched at the town’s railway station.
Rail Future and BML2 both had posters opposite the station at what will be the entrance to the new car park set to be developed by Network Rail.
Rail Future is campaigning to reinstate the Uckfield to Lewes rail line, which is the “missing link in the Sussex railway network. This will create an additional through route between the Sussex coast and London”.
BML2 is a proposal to create a second Brighton Main Line to London, which would run via Uckfield. However, it is part of a much wider scheme involving Sussex, Kent and London.
The BML2 poster is below with one of the Rail Future posters underneath..
