Police take action at Uckfield Rail Station and plan to return

Wealden Police joined forces with British Transport Police over the weekend to take action at Uckfield station because of “ongoing issues with groups” there.

They stopped and dispersed a number of young adults and are planning more joint operations over coming weekends.

Insp Jon Gross.

Wealden Prevention Inspector Jon Gross said on the Wealden Police Facebook page: “”We understand the community’s concerns and are working across all the towns, parishes and villages in Wealden to engage with residents.

Intelligence

“We are continuing to work very closely with councils and other authorities in Wealden, and also regularly share intelligence with other districts within Sussex Police, and other police forces, in a bid to identify those responsible for crimes in the area and bring them to justice.”

Insp Gross added:  “It is crucial that people continue to report crimes to us. Every report we receive is useful intelligence for us to work on.”

The police say people should always dial 999 in an emergency, and 101 for a non-emergency.

It is also possible to report something you have seen or heard online. See on the Sussex Police website: How to tell us about something you’ve seen or heard.
