Sgt Simon Kind presents a cheque for £250 to Jane from the Sense charity shop in Uckfield. This was one of two shops burgled in November. A similar cheque has been presented to Age UK.

Police present cheques to Uckfield charity shops

Police have helped two Uckfield charity shops which suffered an overnight burglary in November last year.

Age UK and Sense were badly hit in the run-up to Christmas, according to the police.

They say that local officer Sgt Simon Kind lived up to his name by seeking donations from the Police Property Act Fund (PPAF) to help offset their losses.

The fund is made up of monies received by the police from property confiscated by order of the court and then sold.

Each of the two charity shops was given £250.

Sgt Kind went along to each shop to present the cheques. He is seen here with Jane from Sense.
