Police challenge Uckfield people on trip to Brighton McDonalds

Two Uckfield people from different households who drove to McDonalds in Brighton told Sussex Police they did so “because they were hungry”.

But the police say now is not the time for family time, seeing friends, and trips out.

“We know people want to be off doing things; but the pandemic is still here. We all need to keep doing all we can to save lives and protect the NHS.”

The Uckfield people were just two of those spoken to by police.

They say others included:

  • Four people in a car travelled from Canary Wharf, London, to Birling Gap to “go sightseeing”.
  • A who man drove from London to Brighton to “visit the pier”.
  • A couple travelled to Brighton from Romford to “go sightseeing”.
