Plans to re-build fire-damaged house at Buxted

Plans have been submitted to re-build a fire and water-damaged house at Buxted.

The fire at five-bedroom Foxwood, in Buxted Wood Lane, started in a roof void and damaged the main roof structure and first floor.

There was also water damage to the ground floor.

Plans before Wealden Council show the existing building being retained, including the external and internal walls with any necessary repairs being completed as part of the work.

A design and access statement accompanying the planning application says: “The proposed work will entail replacing the roof structure and making the building water tight.

“Other than taking the fire damaged timbers of the roof from site, no further demolition is planned.

“General redecorating throughout the house to repair any damage to the interiors will complete the reinstatement.”
