Plans for 184 solar panels to power five new homes at Nutley

Plans have been submitted for 184 solar panels to be placed on a field next to Bell Lane, Nutley, to generate power for five new homes at Hole and Alchorne Farm.

Neighbours have supported the planning application, from Mrs and Mrs Nicholas Attwell, for the panels to be sited in three rows on an area of land 30 metres by 15.5 metres.

‘Great for the environment’

They say it will be great for the environment and all who could benefit from it. “It has been very well planned giving a lot of thought and care to the sighting of the project,” says one.

Another says the area of the site is protected by high hedges making it “pretty much invisible” from any angle.

The planning application, before Wealden Council says: “Ground-based solar PC can make a significant contribution to meeting national targets for renewable energy generation. It has the added benefit that it can be brought on-stream very quickly, a characteristic that is not shared by its nuclear and fossil fuel counterparts.”
