Plan for former cafe and neighbouring building at Blackboys

Plans have been submitted for buildings at Brownings Farm, Blackboys, which would the uses of a former cafe and neighbouring business space.

The Grove Farmhouse Cafe used to be in the bigger of the two buildings but the latest proposal, before Wealden Council, is for that to be for B1 business use – that’s offices, research and development, or light industry – as it was in the past.

Space used for The Grove Farmhouse Cafe at Blackboys could be changed to business use.

Next door a former cow shed which latterly was used as business space is now proposed to be a shop selling rural and local produce with craft workshops and lessons offered in the evenings to the local community.

Tea room

There would also be a small tea room in the building, with no cooking or frying, and with a reduced food offering from the previous cafe.

Information with the planning application says no extraction would be needed as there would be no cooking or frying and there would be no structural changes to the building inside or outside.

Toilets would still be found in the main building five metres away and  have disabled access.

The former cow shed at Brownings Farm, Blackboys, previously a business meeting room, where rural and local produce could be sold and craft workshops and lessons held.
