Pirate party, concert and Christmas fairs coming up in the Uckfield area

A pirate party at a primary school and a concert at Bridge Cottage are among events coming up in Uckfield this weekend.

And during the week, on Wednesday, there’s a Boutique and Artisan Christmas Gift Fair at the East Sussex National.

Also this weekend, tomorrow (Saturday) there’s a one-day beginners picture framing course organised by Uckfield Framing Company, a Craft and Artisan Market at Bridge Cottage, and a Back Care with Sarah Bristow workshop at Uckfield Yoga Centre.

The Pirate Party is being held at Holy Cross Primary School on Saturday for prospective pupils starting school in September 2020, while The Harcourt Ensemble are due to present ‘A Concert in Vauxhall Gardens’ at Bridge Cottage on Saturday night.

Boutique and Artisan Christmas Gift Fair

More than 60 high end gift exhibitors will take part in the Boutique and Artisan Christmas Gift Fair at the East Sussex National on Wednesday and Thursday. This event is being organised by Country Lifestyle Fairs who say gifts will range from Christmas Chic to Fabulous Boutique, Designers and Artisan Makers.

Also next week on Monday there’s a Get Crafty session at The Grove Cafe and Community Hub in Blackboys. Other events at The Grove include Elevenses on Tuesday when you can get together with other people in the community and make new friends, and Creative Writing on Wednesday where you can discuss ideas and spend time writing them up.

Emergency First Aid course

On Friday there’s an Emergency First Aid at Work Level 3 award course being taught over one day at Uckfield Civic Centre. It is being organised by Acres, the Adult College for Rural East Sussex.

And in the morning from 10am to 11.30am Cranwell Wealth Solutions is holding a financial surgery drop-in session at Uckfield Civic Centre. All are welcome to drop in and any query will be answered without obligation.

On Friday evening there’s a Saints and Sinners concert at the Civic Centre featuring The Spikedrivers and Fran McGillivray and Mike Burke who will explore the space and harmony between spiritual music and the devil’s blues.

School open days

Primary schools are offering tours for children who will be aged four and above and starting school in September 2020. This week St Mark’s at Hadlow Down, Bonners at Maresfield, Little Horsted, Nutley, Rocks Park, are opening their doors.

Next weekend

Look out for Uckfield Runners who will be out in force promoting their club at the Uckfield Park Run on Saturday, November 23, and presenting a cheque to the Children’s Respite Trust.

The same day there’s an open morning at Wealden Bowls Centre where all are welcome to call in for a coffee and free taster session, and there’s a Saturday Social at Sussex Support Service for people living with dementia.

On Sunday, November 24, Isfield Frost Fair takes place. There will be a wide variety of local art and craft stalls to visit along with Christmas fare. There will be new stalls as well as regular favourites including aromatherapy soaps and creams, botanical prints, cards, trays, advent calendars and Christmas wrapping.
