As Uckfield Picture House heads towards its centenary year in 2016 a final phase of refurbishment is on the way to completion.
Three screens all have new, comfortable seats with cup holders to ensure there are no spills on the new carpet.
There’s expanded Dolby 7.1 surround sound, new curtains, wall decoration and guide lighting.
Work is still under way on the foyer where walls have been knocked down and a new layout created. Already a new window and entrance doors can be seen from the outside the building.
The window overlooks the High Street in an area that was originally open to the elements and part of a covered walk way
The foyer is now much lighter and spacious and the finer details being considered, such as the door handles and deciding what type of coffee machine to install. There will be space to sit and enjoy a coffee here before a film.
Meanwhile it is nearly a year since The Picture House Restaurant was opened across the road to compliment the offering at the cinema with events organised including a Dirty Dancing 80s Night, Rocky Horror Cocktails evening and a Film and Food Quiz night.
The cinema foyer should be ready for the opeing weekend of the long-awaited new Bond film Spectre later this month and the restaurant will be putting on a 007 Casino black tie event.
