Petition calls for speed limit reduction on A26 at Isfield

A petition has been started to get the speed limit reduced to 40mph on the A26 Uckfield to Lewes road through Rose Hill, Isfield.Rose Hill cropped

It has been set up on the East Sussex County Council website and calls for the new speed limit to start immediately to the south of the road’s junction with Kiln Lane and terminate north of the crossroads where Horsted Lane and Bradfords Lane intersect with the A26.

The petition has been started by Jerome Charles Phillips who says the present speed limit makes the road dangerous for residents, not only those living directly on it but for those accessing it from Kiln Lane and Horsted Lane.

The stretch of road which would be affected is 0.75 miles long and currently has a speed limit of 50mph.

It is claimed, on the petition, that reducing the limit to 40mph would increase journey time by just 15 seconds for motorists driving at the legal limit.
