Peacocks ready for business again after flood clean-up

Peacocks is ready for business and opening again today having cleaned up following flood damage.

Store manager Lauren Humphrey said a lot of scrubbing and pouring out of water took place yesterday but they will be ready for trade bright and early today.

Peacocks was hit by a flash flood following heavy rainfall on Wednesday night and Lauren was greeted by sandbags at the door and mud and water across the shop floor when she arrived at work yesterday.

It was a blow because the store has been trading well and Lauren who only started her job as manager in September was feeling good about the future. She is pleased to be opening again today.

Lauren is a big fan of Uckfield and said: “It’s lovely to work in such a friendly town.”
