Partnership reviews need for Uckfield town co-ordinator

The Uckfield Regeneration Partnership is reviewing its aims and objectives before deciding whether to appoint a new town co-ordinator.

The partnership had advertised for a part-time co-ordinator following the sudden death of Barry Knights and chairman Graham Garnsey told our Business Scene column back in August 2009 that he hoped there would be an appointment in the autumn.

But in January Uckfield Town Council decided against contributing towards funding the post and a report to a town council meeting earlier this month said the partnership was now reviewing its aims and objectives to be clear there was adequate business and projects to warrant an appointment.

Uckfield Chamber of Commerce had been pressing for an early appointment, the council's general purposes committee was told but a decision about the future would be made by members of the partnership which included the chamber of commerce, the town council and representatives from a number of other organisations.
