Old Blackboys pub could be turned into homes

Plans have been submitted to turn offices in Blackboys – once The Crown Inn – into six homes.

The proposal for change of use is before Wealden Council.

The site is about half an acre in size and near the junction of the B2102 (High Street) and B2192.

Planning permission was given for the former pub to be used as an office in 1996.

Another view of what used to be The Crown Inn, at Blackboys. The building is now offices which could be turned into homes.

A letter in support of the application, which was made by Chris Blandford, says pedestrian access and vehicle parking for the proposed homes would remain as existing.

It says: “The change of use is therefore not considered to be of any significant harmful impact on the local traffic or parking situation.”

No impact

The letter adds that no development is proposed as part of the submission and it says a residential change of use would not impact on surrounding uses in terms of noise.

The letter argues that the change of use should be considered permitted development and does not require prior approval fro Wealden Council.
