Our independent columnist Observer gives the thumbs up to an Uckfield primary school and for the way it marked getting a good report from Ofsted.
Congratulations to Uckfield’s Holy Cross school for its ‘good’ Ofsted rating.
It needs a lot of demanding work from the staff, parents and the children to get this result.

Taking to the High Street in colourful and eye-catching costumes was a brilliant idea.
Just shows what you can do with the wider pavements.
I wouldn’t have wanted to take a gaggle of pupils on to the High Street the way they were before the works.
Really, we must try and find more ways of using this extra space for community activities.
To the point
SURPRISED to see the planning appeal for 90 homes along Eastbourne Road has been withdrawn. With Fernley Park on the other side of the road, this still looks to be a good location to me.
I expect the developers to be back with a revised application.

I expect no breakthrough until the General Election is over.
LAST week I praised the Walk and Talk initiative to tackle parking in Downsview Crescent on the Manor Park Estate. There was a swift retort on this site’s Facebook page, asking if I had seen it since the scheme started.
Well, no. The previous item gives a clue to where I am at school times.
However, taking the reader’s point, it strengthens my view that carrot AND stick in such circumstances is what we really needed.
Over to you Sussex Police.
