Hairdressers set for charity sky dive
There’s not long now until three Uckfield hairdressers take part in a 15,000 ft sky dive to raise funds for charity.
The trio are Natalie Edwards, Nate Stagg and Nadine Dale, from Academy of Hair in Uckfield High Street and the date set for their adventure is December 1.
All funds raised will go to St Wilfrid’s Hospice and if you would like to sponsor them please call in at the salon at 104 High Street.
Proceeds of a Christmas raffle will also go to the hospice and tickets are available at the salon now.

Plenty to celebrate at Barracloughs opticians
It’s proving to be a good year for Barracloughs opticians in Uckfield High Street.
Their premises have been refurbished and the company has won an award for Professional Service Provider of the Year. In the past they have also won awards including Employer of the Year, Customer Service of the Year and Overall Business of the Year.
Changes at Barnsgate Manor
Have you seen there’s a new head chef at the restaurant and wedding venue Barnsgate Manor at Herons Ghyll?
Iain More brings with him the experience of working in restaurants with three rosettes, and with celebrity chef Rosemary Shrager.
He is looking forward to launching his own menus in January but for now is pleased to be extending the offering at Barnsgate to include evening dining from Wednesday to Saturday.
Iain’s arrival coincides with a new look for the restaurant which has a fresher and more contemporary look now curtains and table cloths have gone.

Gardening firm uses The Masher to tidy orchard
Ringmer Community Orchard was looking overgrown and untidy until Uckfield gardening company Vacher Gardens offered to help using The Masher.
The specialist mower instantly made a difference as business owner Chris Vacher knew it would because it is used regularly on rough ground in a plantation at Hadlow Down.
He is pleased that the orchard is now more appealing for local people wanting to make use of it.

Dance teacher aims to boost body confidence
Universal Dance is organising a mother and daughter body confidence and positivity workshop at The Cinque Ports Club, Uckfield, on Wednesday, November 27.
One of the founders Lindsay Willis-Wood says: “Being body confident and positive means accepting yourself for who you are today, every day, and each time you look in the mirror.
“Only then can you start to make healthy, positive changes to your life.”
