Our original story: A new Post Office is due to open in Uckfield today at 9am. It will be at WH Smith at 33 High Street.
The old building further up the High Street closed its doors for the last time at 5.30pm last night.
WH Smith has extended its shop into part of a store room to create addtional space and a dedicated Post Office area, built to Post Office specifications.
There will be one traditional-style, floor to ceiling screened serving position and two open plan positions which will still have portioned screens but lower. There will be low-level writing counters and hearing loops.
Opening hours will be longer than at the old Post Office, from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
