New Uckfield CCTV system will link directly with police HQ

Uckfield’s new CCTV system will provide a direct feed to Sussex Police headquarters in Lewes, according to mayor Cllr Louise Eastwood.

And, she says, in an annual review of the year 2017-18, the HD cameras will enable better footage to be captured.

She adds that the town council has been working with the police, BT Redcare, and East Sussex Highways to arrange for the installation of a new system.

Industrial estate

Uckfield Chamber of Commerce has also joined the partnership and will be funding the installation and care of one camera at the western end of the Bellbrook Industrial Estate.

The mayor doesn’t give a date for installation but says the council is pleased to see progress made towards upgrading the system.

It was in February last year that the council agreed to install the latest CCTV technology in the town and use a system that would have close links with the police control room.

The council also wanted it to be possible to upgrade the new system in line with any partnership development and changes in technology.
