New patient transport service launched in the Uckfield area

A new patient transport service has been launched for people who want to visit their doctor or nurse at surgeries around Uckfield.access-healthcare2

Four surgeries – Bird in Eye, Buxted, East Hoathly and Meads – are included in the Access to Healthcare scheme which is being started by Wealden Bus Alliance, supported by Wealden District Council and East Sussex County Council.

Volunteer drivers will collect you from home, take you to the surgery and back home again after your appointment. The cost is £4 return.

To book your journey call 01273 517332 between 8am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.

• The Wealden Bus Alliance is an informal body which aims to organise, facilitate and deliver improvements to bus services in Hailsham, Uckfield, Crowborough and other parts of Wealden.

The group consists of representatives from local councils and bus operators serving Wealden including Stagecoach Buses, Compass Travel, Metro Bus, Cuckmere Buses, Brighton and Hove Buses, and National Express Coaches.
