New Meads Medical Centre should open in Uckfield by next March

The new Meads Medical Centre at West Park in Uckfield should welcome its first patients by March next year, according to developers.

Work is now under way on state-of-the-art premises which will accommodate the GP practice of Dr Walbrook & Partners and an integrated pharmacy.

The 10,400 sq ft building will be mainly two-storey, within landscaped grounds and with 35 car parking spaces.

The medical centre is being built by MedicX, a UK investor and developer of healthcare premises.

Primary care property director with MedicX, Mr Tony Coke, said: “We are delighted to have reached this exciting stage in this project for Uckfield.

“We recognise the huge benefits the new healthcare facilities will bring to the local area and we are now focussed on maintaining the momentum to open the medical centre and welcome the first patients by March next year.”

Dr Emma Walbrook, senior partner at The Meads Medical Centre, said: “I am very excited about our new premises and the fantastic facilities they will offer. As a predominantly rural community, providing a medical centre that is easily accessible by both car and public transport is very important.

“This new development has been long awaited by the local community and it’s great to see construction beginning. We look forward to moving in next spring.”
