Friendly and caring staff are needed to join a company providing non-medical and companionship services to help older people stay in their own homes.
Home Instead Senior Care is based at Ringmer and works in the Uckfield and Lewes areas.
Services can include day-to-day housework, shopping, meal preparation, and, once a relationship has been established and trust built up, assistance with dressing, bathing, eating and medications can be offered. Visits vary from one hour to 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The company is looking to create 50 jobs and will be pleased to hear from dedicated and hard-working people who have a genuine desire to work in an environment where they would be helping others.
Alison Scutt from Home Instead says flexible working hours are available and empathy is more important than experience.
Alison launched her business in April after being prompted by personal experience when her own parents were taken ill and hospitalised. She knew they would need care in the future and wondered how they would all cope.
She said: “Thankfully my parents are now both well and living happily in their own home. They are fiercely independent and the thought of being cared for was a difficult subject to broach with them.
“This is being played out in so many families. It is a conversation we all would rather not have, but it is a very important one and I advise anyone with older parents to talk to them about their future care needs.”
Alison, who has always wanted to run her own business, said this gave her the perfect opportunity to launch Home Instead.
Her previous career was in the travel industry as customer care manager for British Airways Holidays and more recently as a receptionist in a GP surgery.
She said she was very much a people person understanding the importance of building relationships and trust which were so important in delivering a quality service.
Alison added: “Not everyone has a large family or friends living close by to help them with elderly relatives. I wanted to be able to help and support older people and to give their families peace of mind. That’s why I opened my own Home Instead Senior Care office, we provide the kind of care I would want for my loved ones.”
She said: “I have high standards. We don’t do short duration calls, they are a minimum of one hour, at a set time and with the same care-giver. We match our clients to their care-giver on mutual interests which helps to create long and trusting relationships and I am keen to talk to kind, compassionate and like-minded individuals who may be interested in joining our team.”
